Footstool Commission 4

I finally finished all the footstools, I placed a coin in one to give you an idea of scale, my coin is almost 7/8" in diameter, I am busy stitching a cover for one on 48 count silk gauze and should have that finished soon. The chart is available from Victorian Crossstitch.

Turned feet in different stages

I have finished turning all the feet for the footstools, it was the first time that I used a lathe so that was quite a learning curve, but I must say that once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed it. The feet are all glued in now and I have started painting them, so they should be finished soon, I have also started to petit point a cover for one of the square stools.

I finally had time to continue working on my footstool commission, between visiting family members and tool issues (things just not made as they should be, router table not square but dipping in, etc, etc, good brand names on top of it, so not very impressed, does these people ever test their products ????) it took me much longer than expected. They still need their feet, but I am quite pleased with how they are turning out, they are standing on a Lego block so that should give you an idea of their scale.

Walnut Desk

I made this walnut desk using a photo in a book about desks as my only guide, this was my first piece of furniture that I made from hardwood. My previous furniture especially the ones in the kitchen were all made from white wood which I stained or painted.

Build-in Corner Cupboard

Since space was limited in this corner of my dollhouse parlor, I designed and built this corner cupboard from scratch. I used standard moldings available from dollhouse shops.

Footstool Commission

I am busy making 1/12 scale footstools (my first commission). The bottom photo is of a full sized footstool that I am recreating in miniature. In the top photo you can see my progress so far. First I cut a piece of wood into thin strips and then routed a groove for the base in it. The strips were then mitred , glued together into a square and the base added, I also decided to make some rectangular ones. The next step is to router the outside curves and top lip, after that is done I will turn some hamburger shaped little legs. The square footstool is 1 9/16" in size and the rectangular one is 1 9/16" by 2 3/8". Keep watching to see further progress.

Petit Point

I petit pointed this lion from a photo of  an original Victorian Berlin Woolwork chart from the book "Animal Embroideries and Patterns From 19th Century Vienna" on 58 count silk gauze.

At the moment I am busy petit pointing this original Victorian Biblical scene on 48 count silk gauze, it will become a wallhanging in my dollhouse. The chart is available from http://www.roland-designs.com/.
